cairns makes hiking through the rainforest SO worth it. because amidst the lush green lie natural falls/gorges like these and swimming in them is just the most refreshing and awakening sensation ever. ICE COLD water is just perfect when you are dripping with sweat from the trek. the rocks underneath are dangerously slippery, –yes coated with algae and other slimy furry yucky stuff. i also felt a crayfish nibbling my toe.
the warning that the creek has CLAIMED LIVES didn’t deter us one bit.
we went to two different “creeks”. one at the crystal cascades (near redlynch?) and the second was at the mosman gorge in port douglas.
