Sailing Aboard the Etihad Yacht

August 26, 2012 by Jean Holy Smithereens Leave a Comment

This time last week, I spent the Sunday on board the Etihad Yacht. We were fortunate enough to be invited by the airline to spend the day on their yacht used for corporate races.

Rushcutters Bay was the perfect location. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Sunny but not hot.

Even for someone who has been to a number of boat sales & shows, I found that the yacht was bigger than I expected. Very roomy for more than 10 people. They use a different yacht for the Sydney to Hobart race. I assume that one is bigger.

Great weather, great company = great times.
I tried to attempt an ala-Titanic shot at the head/ tip of the yacht. Easier imagined than done! The front most part of the yacht (or any other boat type transportation) is always the worst for waves.
Behind the scenes: Crawling and inching my way around!
Here’s to more great journeys and beyond
While on the topic of sailing, I thought I’d list down songs that are about/ associated with Sailing (or just the words sailing), or songs that I think go with a soundtrack for a perfect sailing day.
1.) Sailing by Christopher Cross.
A sleepy classic song that reminds me of my childhood. Probably the only “Sailing” song that is really about sailing.
Well, it’s not far down to paradise, at least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility

2.) Sail by Awolnation
I love the wicked beats of this song. Perfect music for action packed shots.
This is how I show my love

I made it in my mind becauseI blame it on my A.D.D. baby

3.) Here I Am by Bryan Adams

Yes I realise this song is soundtrack to a movie about horses. But there’s something about this song that just gives me an image and feeling of being on a smooth sailing yacht/boat. The blinding glistening sun bouncing off the waters, the feel of sun salt and wind in your face.

Here I am, this is me
There’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be
