Two Holiday Inns in a row. If you are going on long drives, I highly recommend staying at Holiday Inn in between stops. For one, it’s a trusted chain. Second (and the most important part), all Holiday Inns are safely situated and in good locations. It may be tempting to stop at those driveway inns and motels especially when you compare the rates, but really when you spend the entire day cooped up in a car, all the more you need a more than decent place to stay.Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Coeur d’Alene seems to be grander than the usual Holiday Inn and has a very country feel. Impressive lay out and a lovely reception area. Their decor indicates you are coming very close to bear country. Very homey and I think they even have resident dogs that you can take for a walk! I didn’t see them but I did see signs for the facility.

awww…how cute is that???
It’s actually fortunate for both myself and Holiday Inn, that I did not see any resident dog. I may not be able to tear myself away from it, or worse I may just have kidnapped the dog! But I love that they have that feature.

We were upgraded to a King Suite. The hotel only has 2 floors but it spans very wide. We were on the 2nd floor and had a lot of natural light.

Hotel staff gave impressive customer service. Volunteered information when they found out we were driving towards West Glacier. I highly recommend this not just for a long drive stop but seeing that Coeur d’Alene is such a pretty city, this will be perfect for a couple days or even a week’s stay.
