Do the Cha-Cha When in Utah

November 28, 2012 by Jean Holy Smithereens Leave a Comment

Moab is so far away and so totally different from Salt Lake City, it’s a different planet on its own. I loved my stay in Moab. Abit bittersweet, because I wanted to stay longer but had to leave for a work trip.  My husband then tried to pack the best sceneries and activities that I could see and do in my 2 full days in Moab. So when I say I cha-cha’d in Utah, I meant I just totally immersed myself in the surroundings, and forgot about my impending 2-week work trip ahead.

Moab’s where it’s at!
It’s not exactly the badlands, but I tell you, it felt like we just walked into a western movie set
was expecting to see John Wayne come out of nowhere atop a galloping horse.
Arches National Park. It’s so red, it’s so perfect you’d think someone painted this pretty picture. Except it’s all the workings of mother nature. All these giant rocks are shaped (and still being shaped) by wind, heat, sand, and other natural elements. And it took thousands, even millions of years to create this pretty picture!
Surprisingly the weather was quite pleasant. It wasn’t scorching hot as I thought it would be. Sensible clothing, cap and sunscreen are still a must , but it was windy and cool at times, especially on “nooks” like these:
That bedrock was really very comfortable. I could easily sleep in there and look at the stars above. I now know how a lizard feels cooling on a rock on a hot day. The rock was warm, and it had that very comforting , therapeutic kind of warm that I love.
i could have sat like this for hours.

Easily one of the most amazing places I’d ever been to. Another plus factor to this place is absolutely zero crowds. It’s not as popular as Yellowstone, and it is such a massive massive playground that it can be hard to run into crowds. It also helped that we were here mid-September, as I imagine Arches National Park can be really packed during summer.

I really wish I was able to stay longer in Moab. My husband, who stayed behind after I left for my work trip, was able to capture awesome images. Check out the timelapse photography HERE and HERE.
