It took us almost two days to get to the Seychelles from Canberra. We had a great time on the flight with Etihad, and also spent a full day in Abu Dhabi to recharge and tour the city a little bit.
When we finally landed in the Seychelles, we were excited and bleary eyed at the same time. I found that the DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles Allamanda was the perfect first stop in the Seychelles.

Location
Located in Anse Forbans, DoubleTree by Seychelles Hilton Allamanda is just a short 20 minutes’ drive from Pointe Larue Airport (Seychelles International Airport). The drive to the resort is extremely scenic – I could not believe that Seychelles’ public beaches look like private white-sand resort beaches!
And though the resort is in the main island of Mahe, it is tucked in a quiet street, and the entrance is a long driveway paved with palm trees.

Check-In: The DoubleTree Cookies!

Can I just say that no other check-in process in a resort has jolted me out of jetlag any more than this?? The famous, warm, homemade Doubletree cookies!
I normally associate the DoubleTree cookies with cold weather, having tried them in Seattle and Dublin, but there’s something unusually nice about having them in a tropical country, with an orange-mango welcome drink too.
We arrived pretty early at the resort and we had the room ready about an hour after we arrived, which was quite great for an early arrival, and this also meant more cookies!
Welcome Massage

How often can you say that a resort’s welcome amenity includes a 15-minute complimentary massage? I think my “Yes, please!” response came out at least 2 decibels and 2 pitches higher with excitement.
Put yourself in my shoes: I’d been travelling for 2 days, I haven’t had sleep and I’m fed cookies and given a massage?? OH YES.
Room – King Grand Deluxe Room with Ocean View

All rooms at the DoubleTree Seychelles have a view of the Indian Ocean and complimentary Wifi as well.

The room also has a generous balcony , equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, refillable complimentary water bottles, and a spacious bathroom (no tub), all amenities you’d expect from a 4-star resort.

The view from the balcony is undeniably stunning. Sunsets in the Seychelles are just spectacular. Pink skies that seem to linger on for so long.
Pool

The DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles Allamanda has one pool which is stunningly photogenic as well as in real life. It can get very popular and crowded during peak hours (morning and sunset). ButT even if you find the pool crowded, there’s the stunning beach.
The Beach

The beach at DoubleTree Seychelles has fine white sand and the best part is it doesn’t get crowded at all.
We did a bit of exploring and found that just next to the resort’s beach (we’re talking just metres away), is a beach that is secluded and unbelievably stunning:

Needless to say, this became our favourite part of the resort. There was only one time when we ran into another couple, also guests of the DoubleTree, in the beach. All other times we had that stunning stretch of beach all to ourselves.
Food

There are two restaurants at the DoubleTree Hilton Seychelles. Oceanview Bar, and Les Palms Restaurant, which is where breakfast buffet (or ala carte) is also served.
I highly suggest going ala carte and on both restaurants, order seafood! Seafood is so fresh and abundant in the Seychelles you will not be disappointed.
I had the grilled Snapper at least twice and it was so good, especially with a little bit of curry sauce from the Octopus curry ( a Seychellois speciality you should not miss!)
Overall

The DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles Allamanda is a great resort for families and couples alike. The convenience of its location is a big bonus. We did a half-day tour of Victoria (the capital of Seychelles) one day and the resort was a great place to base yourself to explore the city.
Most people will spend a week or two in the Seychelles mixing resorts in different islands. As a first stop in Mahe, I would highly recommend spending your first few nights at the Doubletree Seychelles.

We stayed as guests of the DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles - Allamanda Resort & Spa , but all opinions and thoughts are mine.
That beach looks ah-mazing and those sunsets! Swoon! And I can totally vouch for those Doubletree cookies, we had some at Anaheim when we went to Disneyland 🙂
Oh that looks divine, and being so close to the airport is a massive bonus since it’s such a long, long way from Australia. The beaches look just stunning, that’s where I’d spend most time too, I am sure. Looking forward to more reading about the Seychelles.
The place looks very tranquil and quite. A perfect getaway from the busy city life.
