Summer is just a few months away but we can hardly wait! It’s the time when hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, water gets warmer, drinks get colder, music gets louder and the sun shines longer…and most important of all, when life gets better!
Needless to say, summer is probably the most popular season, and it is celebrated in many different ways all over the world.
They say that the best memories are made during the summer, and here are some summer experiences around the globe that we’d love to experience.
1.) Welcome Summer with a Carnival in Budapest

Summer is that well-loved that carnivals are even held in honour of it! In Budapest, they have been welcoming summer with a bang by holding the Danube Carnival. This is a 10-day international festival that showcases folk and modern music and dance, beginning mid-June onwards.
This carnival was established over two decades ago, and is topped off with a parade that starts from the Danube river all the way to Vorosmarty Square, with participants and acrobats dressed in elaborate costumes and accessories.
With the Danube river perfectly snaked around the city to divide it in two, Budapest is no doubt considered to be one of the world’s most majestic cities. Its rich history, scenic views and beautiful architecture make it the perfect venue to celebrate summer not just in style, but in the most unforgettable way.
2.) Get an Instant Dose of Summer in Punta Cana

Punta Cana is the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic, and shares common boundary of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It is best known for its notoriously beautiful and pristine beaches (it has over 32 kilometres stretch of beach and clear waters), and is one of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean.
Punta Cana’s weather is warm year-round, so it is one of those destinations where you can go anytime during the year whenever you feel like a dose of summer and sunshine.
There are dozens of watersports and activities that you can do in Punta Cana, and a few of our top picks are horseback-riding along the beach, explore a hidden cenote (natural pit or sinkhole) in Hoyo Azul, and perhaps renting a catamaran and sailing off to do snorkelling and diving trips around Punta Cana.
With over 500,000 hotel rooms available, it may be overwhelming to choose which are the best hotels in Punta Cana. The Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro is one of those accommodations where you will feel like spending the rest of your holidays in your hotel with the endless activities and luxuries you can indulge in.
Punta Cana is definitely a destination for the adventurous and the indulgent. Please count me in!
3.) Celebrate Christmas in Summer

Not all countries experience the holidays in snow and freezing weather. In Australia (and South America), summer comes every end of the year, when most around the world are experiencing winter.
For a fun and unique Christmas experience, many people flock to Australia to experience Christmas on the beach. The term ‘Shrimp on the Barbie’ (Shrimp on the barbecue) to associate (or generalise) Aussies was coined because seafood is a common Christmas / holiday food.
So if you wish to ditch your boots for slippers (or thongs), and your fur coats with bikinis, it’s worth taking the long flight down under to experience the holidays like no other.
It goes both ways too. Some Aussies celebrate what is called “Christmas in July” (July is peak of winter in Australia), in order to get that ‘Christmas feel’.
4.) Hire a Party Boat in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a city made for walking, biking, and cruising (the canals, that is). At any time of the year, you will see most Amsterdam residents out and about getting to and from their destinations. But it is during spring and summer when you will not just see people out but you will also feel a festive vibe in the air, as though people have long been waiting for the season to arrive.
One of the most memorable experiences in Amsterdam is to celebrate summer in its world-famous canals, and there’s no better way to do this than by renting a party boat! Many Amsterdam residents own a boat, and most of them make their boats available for hire.
Cruising the Amsterdam canals is one of the best ways to explore the city and you hit two birds in one stone if you hire a boat while sight-seeing and celebrating a milestone. For as low as 37 Euros, visitors can rent an Amsterdam party boat for 1.5 hours and cruise the canals while partying with music, food, and drinks.
For this price, I would surely welcome and say good bye to summer in a party boat. In other words, I’d pretty much think of any good reason to hire a boat with a group of friends!
5.) Attend a Music Festival

There are plenty of music festivals around the world, and because summer is all about having fun and freedom, we’re leaving this last activity open to attend any music festival in the world during summer.
Music festivals go beyond Coachella, and some of the coolest festivals are held in the USA, most of them grouped by the type of music. For instance, in May, “Welcome to Rockville” will be held in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is an annual weekend rock festival modern and classic rock and metal bands.
Later on in the same month (22nd – 24th of May), Bottlerock Napa Valley will be held and its legendary headliners include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band and Stevie Nicks.
And if you must experience a music festival in the United States, you cannot muss the CMA Music Festival. Even if country music is not your type, this is worth going to in order to get a glimpse of the country music culture in America.
They say that what happens in summer stays in summer, but music will re-live memories forever, long after that summer has gone.
