Even a daytrip to Tijuana from San Diego would be better than just going to Cancun to party or go to the beach. We spent our last 4 days in Mexico in Cancun before heading to Atlanta (to head back to Australia). Though Cancun wasn’t really part of my planned cities, it was our base when we went on day trips to Xcaret (separate post about that), Tankah, and Isla Holbox. We took the bus from Merida, stopping in Chichen Itza on the way.Anyway, Cancun is extremely Americanized and thrives in tourism.
It’s very tourist friendly, with tourist kiosks every 15 metres or so. They are teemed with day trips, whale watching trips, entrance to natural parks, etc. In fact you could go to Cancun without preparing or pre booking anything and you can still snag hot day trips/tours. It’s just abit scary with a lot of haggling. You can’t help but feel that every kiosk has the “best price” around.

If you stay in the city area, I doubt you can even find an authentic mexican restaurant.

And I kid you not, the Hooters in Cancun had waitresses that look like Victoria’s Secret angels (some even hotter). I wasn’t able to take a photo though. Was in awe of how hot they all looked. If I looked like them, I wouldn’t work at Hooters I’d go straight to Hollywood! LOL
