Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa

August 24, 2013 by Jean Holy Smithereens 3 Comments

I can’t believe I never wrote about Fiji. This was in early 2010 when I had the wonderful opportunity to try Virgin Australia’s (then) new Sydney to Nadi route.

Nadi Airport on arrival. It reminds me of Iloilo airport in the Philippines. But definitely not crowded. Getting the bags was a breeze.

The main street of Nadi where most shops are. This was when I found out there’s a very huge Indian population in Fiji. Both former colonies of Great Britain, so I’m guessing the Indians (now Fijian-Indians) have been there for a long time now.

After driving through the main street, we passed by what seemed like endless miles of grassy area on semi-paved roads

After about 40 minutes…

We arrived and were welcomed by catchy beats to an instrument that I sadly do not know the name of. My first impression of Fijian hospitality- warm and enthusiastic!

the airy path leading to the lobby for check-in
the rooms!
the open air lobby where check-in is literally a breeze
If your room happens to not be ready when you arrive (almost won’t ever happen in this resort I assure you), I’m sure you wouldn’t mind waiting with this view?
as this hotel is a popular wedding and honeymoon destination, it has a non-denominational church. you know what’s awesome? the church is equipped with video cameras that can stream live feeds of the wedding to family and friends who cannot make it to Fiji! How cool is that?
and now the actual room
Your very own private bath tub outside your room’s balcony
I unfortunately didn’t have time to use it 🙁
this entire strip of pool is knee deep. the kids pool.
and a few yards away from that is the adults-only infinity pool. There’s staff ready to look after your kids so you, and the other adult guests can swim in peace.
no kids? no yelling, splashing and crying? I’m in! I’m not a kid hater at all but it’s nice to swim in a relaxed environment.
dinner time! I’m very proud to say that the shells from the chandeliers are Capiz shells from the Philippines.
I loved this Fijian (im sure fusion / westernised version) dish made with chicken and cassava.
My favourite part was the next day, after breakfast, I got to try their Spa.
heading to the spa for even more R & R
i thought this was adorable 🙂
the waiting area , while the masseuse gets the massage room ready
wishing everyday can be like this!
As for the massage, let me tell you that in all my massage/facials/spa experience, THIS still tops the list. It’s such a relaxing almost hypnotic massage.  I literally drooled from sleep while being massaged. The moment the masseuse started to knead my back, I think I passed out from relaxation and went to massage heaven.
I was sad to leave such a relaxing place. I can only sing praises about the hotel service. Wonderful staff who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and want.
I definitely recommend this as an ideal honeymoon destination, especially those not wanting to venture too far from Australia. Also the main thing with this resort, it’s (still) not a popular choice for tourists to go so you can definitely enjoy serenity and privacy.
