Sometimes, beach holidays can get pretty tiring, especially if you don’t have an itinerary planned. Don’t let boredom ruin your hard-earned break. Engage yourself instead and take others with you in these awesome activities for the beach holiday.
Go Kayaking
Kayaking can simultaneously be the most relaxing and adventurous activity that anyone can opt for. No other activity can be more fun and relaxing at the same time since the small frame of the slim boat allows you to traverse through territories that bigger boats cannot get into, while the low, close to water perspective provides a sense of adventure that nothing else can match. Of course, if you are looking for more adventure as an experienced kayaker who wants to face Class IV rapids, things become a lot more dangerous than relaxing!
However, even if you are just going to use your kayak to cruise through the blissful waters of a quiet East Asian part of the ocean, always put safety first because kayaking can get dangerous at any point in time and in any place if you do not have a helmet and a lifejacket on. These are mandatory safety precautions, irrespective of how experienced one might be, or how calm the waters may seem.
Go Scuba Diving
Elevate your snorkelling experience to the next level by taking the literal plunge into the depths of the ocean. Of course, you will have to select a proper beach holiday that has opportunities for scuba diving, because it isn’t possible everywhere. Within the United States, Monterey Bay in California, Kona in Hawaii, and Bonne Terre in Missouri come highly recommended if you are looking for diving beach holidays within the States.
Diving can be an extremely surreal experience, but do understand that you need proper training to dive into the depths of the ocean safely. Without that training, scuba diving is not an option. Even before the training starts, you will likely be given a fitness test by the diving school instructor to determine whether or not you can dive safely underwater. The bottom line is that if you want to experience the wonders of the deep, you should plan your vacation accordingly.
Learn to Surf
Surfing isn’t the easiest beach activity. Neither is it the safest, but when you are looking for adventure, very few can beat surfing. In case you are not a pro surfer already, it will make surfing that much more enjoyable. Just make sure that you choose a beginner-friendly beach while learning. Some of the best learner spots – ideal for learning how to surf – would be Huntington Beach in California, Waikiki in Hawaii and Cocoa Beach in Florida. There are international options as well, but it is perhaps better to learn the basics locally, rather than trying to learn a new sport on an expensive international holiday. For experienced surfers, though, Australia and South America offer a lot of cool spots to try out.
Enjoy a Bonfire Together
The idea is to gather around a bonfire at night, right beside the ocean, and have a great time as a family. It’s a time tested and well-loved activity to enjoy the beach itself, as well as each other’s company by chatting, eating together, roasting marshmallows and watching the vast, starry night sky.
It should be duly noted that not all beaches allow bonfires and even the ones that do have strict measures to prevent pollution. California has a number of bonfire-friendly beaches to explore, including Newport and Dockweiler, so they could be the ideal destinations for your next family beach holiday.
Holidays are hard to come by these days, as we all lead such busy lives. Nevertheless, when that little break does come around, a beach holiday sounds just about perfect, and the activities we just mentioned should make them feel even cooler than it sounds.
